toothpaste dries out the skin, and helps to absorb some of the oil. you could put ice on it. If it's close enough to the surface (a whitehead), you could try squeezing out some of the pus, but that could make it worse. drink a bunch of water, that always helps to give a nice glow to the skin, or just use coverup

I use a persa-gel by clean and clear that works GREAT. Go buy a tube, it's less than 5 dollars at any drugstore/walmart etc.

And yes, toothpaste also works by drying the pimple out... but I perfer the persa-gel.

You could try popping it. Wash your hands in a sink with soap, rinse thoroughly and stand close to the mirror. Try squeezing from either side firmly, but too hard. If it hurts, do it a little gentler about three times and rub it a bit, then try firmly again. It shouldn't hurt as much. if it hurts too much to pop or squeeze, then stop reading here. When it pops, wipe with a tissue, squeeze again and again until most of whatever is in there (it could be a mix) has come out. Wash it very thoroughly and find some nice foundation or pimple-cover to put over it. If it continues bleeding, hold a (clean) finger on top of it for a while. I have a fairly large, bright red pimple where people normally get blackheads along the side of their nose. Anyone know a cheap, possibly a home remedy, that works to get rid of it?

I tried popping it, which I know you are supposed to do, but my mother told me it was okay. Don't post any lectures on how you aren't supposed to pop pimples, I know that now.

Then I used some Clearsil products and another Daily Cleanser, which seems to have helped. It still is big and red. I need a quick remover, please and thank you.How can I get rid of a problem pimple?
Tea tree oil will help, just apply it to the problem area. Also, using a product that has benzoyl peroxide will help. Be sure that you are not using a cleanser that is too drying or that contains alcohol because this will strip your skin and you will not be able to fight the bacterias that cause pimples. ****Or if you want to try someting not homemade, try the tea tree pimple remover from The body Shop, it helped me a lot to.

However you have to realize that your pimple should not be touched by your hands unless you are 100% sure your hands are clean, and if its possible watch your hair, if your hair comes to your face a lot, theres a bigger possibility for you to get a pimple.

I once heard that gently rubbing a small amount of visine eyedrops on a pimple could reduce the redness.

Apply ice if it's really red, swollen, or painful for about two minutes.

I had this pimple, and I started picking at it which I know was wrong...Well I ended up getting this clear scab over it kinda..I am not sure what it is but it look like a burn..it is right under my nose and burns..It is also really red and concealer won't cover it at all! I have tried toothpaste, and peroxide but i can't get the clear coating to go away? If there is a strange clear coat that doesn't act like a pimple, maybe it isn't one. Toothpaste has always worked for me - not the gel, a paste. Put in on at night, and Leave it on.

Ok seriously. How old are you? do you not know to not mess with your zits??

You shouldn't have popped it in the first place.

Freaking leave it alone and only apply lotion to it not any facial washes or toners.

Especially don't apply peroxide or alcohol. Your making it worst.
There is no quick remedy other than to just leave it alone and let the skin heal. It sounds like you've rubbed or scraped off the top layer of skin. You can try some neosporin cream (not the ointment) to keep from getting a bacterial infection and if you use the kind with pain relief it will make it less irritating.

Next time instead of messing with it, use Queen Helene mask in just that spot overnight to help dry it out.

Third, I have this stuff from Aveeno and that worked really nice. It was in a green tube and I got it in CVS but I have seen it in Walgreens

I usually don't tell people to pick at them, but can you get the clear-ish coating off of it? If you can, then put some acne treatment cream on it immediately. Leave it alone for a while and see if it goes away. Next time, just don't pick it. It will only make them worse and you may end up with a scar.

First -- stop using bar soap. The stuff that holds bar soap together (including clear bars) will clog your pores. Get a face cleanser that isn't greasy. If it leaves a film on your face after rinsing with water, it's too greasy.

Second -- Get a 1-2% BHA product. BHA is a chemical exfoliant, and it will dissolve the oil in your pores so that pimples don't start. Apply in the morning. More info on BHA here:

Third -- Either use pure tea tree oil or benzoyl peroxide on areas prone to breakouts at night. Be careful with benzoyl peroxide as it will bleach clothes and hair.

buy the poractive refining mask at your local mall as soon as you can and put it on your pimple over night. it seriosley will practicaly vanish. but if you can't go right now mix baking soda and water together than put it on the pimple and put a bandaid over it. it won't make it vanish but it will try to speed the healing try to wait a little bit for it to stop bleeding and kinduh dry than applying the mixture.

and remember ALWAYS wash your face.

This happened to my brother many times and all I have to say is after popping the pimple is to clean it, cover it and leave it alone with time. If you bother it like scratching it or rubbing it then you'll get the pimple infected which will make it worse thus making it into a boil. Believe me you do not want a boil on your face.
I used to pop mine too, then put iodine or peroxide on them. Just leave it and it will heal. You will have a small scar for a little while, then it will hardly show.
Put ice on it for about 20min to reduce swelling and redness and then put some triple anitbiotic cream on it and that should help but its gonna take some time but the ice should help by th end of 20min

Take a warm cloth and compress it to the bump.

this will speed up the process to come out.
Put a little toothpaste on it. The alcohol in it will literally dry it up. Sounds weird, but it works.

I had the same problem %26amp; a dermatologist couldn't even help me (he actually made it worse)! Finally found a solution that works - daily exfoliation. I've been using loofah gloves %26amp; Pear's Soap (both available at your local Dollar Tree).

Don't know what it is about this soap but I used it on my face when I ran out of facial cleanser. Noticed that it cleared up the blackheads on my nose after 2-3 days so I started using it on my back. Two months later my back is almost clear, except for 1 or 2 bad scars, and those are fading rapidly. I also apply Neosporin after squeezing pimples %26amp; then cover with a band aid for about 8 hours. This helps prevent scaring.

I wouldn't do it if I were you. Painful pimples are infected, and you don't want that infection spreading anywhere else, especially if it's on your lip. I would try getting some kind of antibiotic on there, as long as you make sure it's non comedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores and make it worse.

ahhh i hate pimples like that....this is my view- I would squeeze it. since it is a pimple that is painful and on your lip im sure when you squeeze it all of it will not come out, but you will get the white stuff out probably followed by clear puss stuff. It will not be squeezed completely because normally such painful pimples are hard to get. after squeezing it i always rub like this rubbing alcohol stuff and it always works, the next day the pimple is either gone 100% are almost. if you dont have rubbing alcohol or dont feel safe touching the popped pimple, i would just leave it popped, and the next day it will probably come back just a little but it will be easier to pop and it will go away. lol good luck
People always say don't squeeze them as it can leave you open to infection. However, having suffered from the odd spot in the past I was always self-conscious about them and would squeeze them. Basically as long as you make sure your hand are clean and put some antiseptic cream on after (Savlon's usually pretty good) it shouldn't be a problem.
Yes go on, or else it will just annoy you. It will hurt to squeeze but I think that they go away fast if you squeeze the white headed ones.

tip #1: My Doctor gave me some medication called Retin-A.

You just apply a little bit to your problem areas. It really worked for me.

tip #2: This one is obvious but there are some people who don't do it. I wash my face 3 times a day, it cleans your face regularly.

tip #3: moisturize your face. Some people think that moisturizer causes you to break out, but in actuality, it hydrates your face.

tip #4: I wouldn't try too many products at the same time. Mixing and using so many treatments will probably irritate your face and the original product might not have the same effect.

These are things am doing right now and they seem to be helping. I hope I helped you. At your next physical, you might want to talk to your doctor about what you can do to help your acne. Every face is different and the same things aren't going to work on everybody. Good luck!
My roommate swears by Dollar Store toothpaste. *it sucks all of the oil out of it.* I on the other hand let my washcloth run under really hot water *point of being unbearably hot* out it on the pimple, and then put ice on it. It helps the pimple come to a head quicker and reduce redness.

If you put a dab of the white (not gel) toothpaste on your pimple and leave it on all night it will reduce it quite a bit by tomorrow. Put on some concealor in the morning and that should take care of covering it up the rest of the way.

For future problems, you can by an acne spot treatment for when you get a single pimple that needs to be zapped. It's best to put it on when you first notice it, that way it has a chance to be reduced before it grows into something big. You can also buy acne patches. These are clear patches that you use to cover your pimples and then you apply makeup over it to give your face a smooth finish.

make a mixture of hald baking soda, and half water into a paste...and put it on your pimple leave it there over night. you could also do the same with asprin if you wish.

well the poactiv refining mask won't completely eliminate the pimple over night. But if you put a dap on it, by morn' the reddness will be gone. so you'll only have a small lil bump which you can cover with concealer. Or i have this other idea, this weekend i had the same problem, i had a big red pimple on the bottom of my chin. which look horribly disgustin if you know what i mean. lol. now this may sound kind of gross, but it works for me. okay if its like those pimples where it big and red and theres like a lil tiny dot in the middle of it. POP IT. but dont pop it with your fingers, cause its really hard to get that white stuff out and it gets all messy and stuff, so what i do ( this is gross but works) get a tweezer, and what use it like if you were using your fingers, only you press down on the area and pull on that lil white dot. you may hear sometimes a pop. but you get all that white stuff out, and then after that you clean the tweezer ( soap and alchol). You wash that area where your pimple is with soap first, than wait a couple hours (so go read a magazine or do whatever it was you were doing before) then go back to the bathroom, you'll see that the redness has reduced and there may still be a lil tiny white dot there again. so do the same procedure again. then when you go to sleep use a cleanser, toner, moisturizer and put a dap of refining mask on that bump. by tomorrow it'll be less noticeable. hope this helped!

There is no way your pimple will go away in just one day. I have had acne for 6 years and i laugh at all the young people believing in ';Zits gone in just 3 days';. I mean you have to get real here. I am thinking that pimple will be with you for about a little over a week...not in its full glory but it should start going away in a week.

I had those a few times before. They are the worst, especially since you usually get them in summer. Well, what I do is apply Carmex lip balm to the affected area and let it go down. But if you get impatient like me, I'd take a towel with hot hat water, and compress the bump until the swelling goes down. Then, I just pop it. I once fell of my bike going around a corner and slided on my face for about 10 meters, the next day when we went back my skin was on the road still and half my face was missing. So for the next three months i rubbed vitamin E oil on that part of my face (once a lot of the scabbing was gone). After about a month all the scabbing went away. Yeah, bumps, especially close to the eye, are generally things you want to get checked out. It's probably just a cyst or an irritated/popped blood vessel of some sort. You should definitely take him to a vet. Even if it's a cyst or something, it might still be putting pressure on his eye which could hurt him. Or maybe it's perfectly fine and leaving it there will do no harm.

first..

get a cup of warm water and put tons of salt in it.

then grab a cotton ball and soak it in the water for about 60 seconds.

then squeeze the cotton ball so its damp but its not dripping w/ water.

take out the cotton ball, put it on the pimple and leave it on the pimple for about 3-6 mins.

then take it off, dry the skin, and put salt on it.

leave on for about 3 mins then put toothpaste on it and leave on overnight..

but if you dont go to sleep keep putting on more toothpaste on about every 2 hours..

[it does burn at first]

keep doing this and they should all be gone.

It could be a number of things. If it just looks like a grain of salt, it's probably Ich. However, if it looks hairy, it's likely fungus. If it's just a patch of discolored scales, columnaris is quite likely. Really, for any positive identification, a picture, or at least more description, is needed.

If it looks like a grain of salt, it's probably ich (fish fleas). Petstores have medications for those. If it looks a bit worst than a grain of salt, might be a tumor. Just finished watching youtube where a vet performed surgery on a goldfish with tumor growing out of its nose.

Thing is, if you didn't notice before, don't ignore it. Monitor it and take appropriate actions.
That sounds like Ich. Don't flush it, its easily treatable, but you'll need to treat the entire tank.

Wash your face with warm soapy water and then put some rubbing alcohol on a cottonball and dab at the pimple. It will help dry it out.

You need to wash your face first because you don't want to dry the dirt or makeup residue on your face into your pores.
The only thing that I know to do is wait for it to come to a head and then pop it. Maybe try an ice cube or something to get the swelling down.
covering in toothpaste should help by morning should give it a white head. another thing to try is to put very hot wash cloth on it several times untill it gets softer and see if you can squeeze it that way. if you can get it to open. put straight rubbing alcohol on it several times. it should help reduce the swelling. you may have to repeat these methods, throughout the evening and maybe in the morning as well. the alcohol will definitely shrink it especially if you somehow get it to open up. then cover it with concealer and powder untill the scab finally flakes off. good luck.

Personally, ive read alot on scars as i have quite a few left over too. What ive heard to do is apply acv(apple cider vinegar, u can buy it at ur grocery store for under 2 bucks) and mix it half and half with warm water. Then dab the diluted acv with a cotton ball and apply it on your scar. Also i have heard that drinking it is great too but it might taste a bit sour :P . Also another great thing to do is go make an appointment with your dermatologist and get her/him to prescribe u a tropical gel called ';retin a micro';. As ive heard and read, u need to apply just a lil' dab on the scar for about twice a day, preferably morning and night. However the downfall to using retin-a micro is that it will peel your skin - but thats how it works. Using retin-a micro will make ur scars get better before it gets worst. tho retin a micro wont work over night, i am more then certain u will achieve decent results from using it atleast about 2-3 weeks. It takes a bit of time, but im positive that if you use this tropical and dab some acv dilutd with water, those maarks will fade in time. gd luck :)

DO NOT put makeup on a pimple overnight, this will only make it worse. try taking a heat compress or wet a wash cloth with really really warm water and, after washing your face, press it against the affected area for a while, like fifteen minutes or so, then immediately put some sort of zit zapper on it. do this right before you go to bed, so it can heal overnight.

Apply some alcohol on a cotton ball and rub it against your pimple slowly the swelling will go down and won't be as red.
I used to tab just a little bit of toothpaste on it overnight or for a few hours. It can dry it out and shrink it. Good luck!
To make it smaller take a q-tip and put the tip in hot water then press it on the head of the pimple. It will make the swelling go down.
Use some visine eye drops - it will bring the swelling down and get rid of the redness. Use some concealer and don't touch it!!

Put a damp hot/warm compress to your nose and keep it their for about 5 minutes. Then get a STERILIZED sewing needle ( run it throw boiling water or put rubbing alcohol on it ) and lightly prick the pimple head. Get some tissue/toilet paper, rap it around your index fingers and LIGHTLY apply pressure to the sides of pimple. DO NOT SQUEEZE SUPER HARD. if you got the puss out and you see blood coming out or apple juice liquid STOP and put your acne meds on it or rubbing alcohol. if no puss comes out leave it alone and put some rubbing alcohol or benzoyal peroxide on that bad boy and leave it alone. the pimple will come to a head eventually and you can do the process over again.

I have the exact same thing and I had dermabrasion 3x also some laser skin resurfacing, I paid 1500 dollars each time for the dermabrasion and 1200 for the resurfacing and I am not happy with the results. Clense your ear with a good pimple astringent, like Sea Breeze, then put a drop of Anbesol or Lanacaine in there to ease the pain.
Anytime you have a swollen painful bump get a washcloth and wet it and ring it out. Then put it in the microwave for just a few seconds at a time until it's hot but not enough to burn you. Then apply it to the bump.

If you cant heres what i recommend:

1. Drink a couple glasses of water to flush out your system.

2. Place a hot compress on it.

3. Use tooth paste as a spot treatment. Leave on overnight and it should reduce the size of the pimple.
Their is many things you could for example ;

-toothpaste

-ice

-buy clearasil

-olive oil

-peanut butter

-honey

-ect..

Put one of these things on you're ';pimple'; and put tape/band aid over it and kiss it good bye, or you could mix all of these items together and it might work better!

Okay, first get a warm rag. put it on your face for about a minute or until its cold. then wrap some paper towel around your finger and squeeze gently to get all the pusk out. then once pusk is out you should see some blood apperaing. thats okay because its now clean.

if its the size of a dime, it sounds more like a cyst.

go to the doctor, they will rid of it quickly with a syringe .

if you pop it yourself, it will just continue to get bigger and worse, because when you try to pop it, it presses down deeper into your skin.

the hydrogen peroxide will help rid of the germs that get into your skin when you pop it, but its not 100% effective and you make the infection inside worse. so just leave it alone and go to your doctor or dermatologist. hope this helps :)

Toothpaste used to work, years ago, when it had zinc in it... but it doesn't anymore. So don't try that. Get a cream with benzoyl peroxide in it and use that instead, its meant for spot-treating pimples, so just use it where you have it. Apply it 1 or 2 times a day and it'll be gone REALLY fast, i swear. :)

Hi Ashley!!!

I know they hurt but the last thing you should do is to touch it or ';pop'; it!!!! It could gorw them inwards, creating kind of a volcano effect, where the infection will be trapped deeper and in different directions.

The best thing is to apply a cotton ball, damped in warm alcohol (NOT HOT)!!!!! Apply several times, for few days, mornings and nights or as often as you can!!!

This will help the pores to open and the infection to come out faster, without having to ';pop'; it.

After you apply the cotton with warm alcohol, apply some acne, medication as 10 % Benzoyl Peroxide Gel, or acne med. based with 3.00 % Sulfur.

You need to keep applying this even after it errupts. This

med. treatment will kill the bacteria that is causing the infection.

Do NOT, peel the scab off!!! Let it heal it self, if you pell the scab off, it will continue to get infected and it will take longer to cure.

The Murad Co. has very good products, and is what I use, to keep my complexion, clear of acne, pimples, black or whiteheads. I highly recomended, Pro Active is also good.

This two are a little expensive, but you can also buy Oxy Ten, which is 10% Benzoyl Peroxide based, if you use it daily, ONLY ON THE AFFECTED AREA, (just a dab on top), it will work just fine two!!

toothpast only works for some ppl, what i do is just leave it alone and wash morning and night and put lotion on so it does not get oily. and DON';T touch it.
rub a small amount of toothpaste on it, just to dry it out. wash it with soap a lot and do not touch it or you will be putting oils that you took out back into it
use something like clearasil, make sure your bangs (if you have any) aren't in the way because that'll just cause it to clog up more with oil, and use some concealer... concealer is a LIFESAVER, trust me.

I have those too! I do not know what they are but just don't pick at them. I picked at mine and soon learned they are not ';popable';. It's lymph fluid... produced by your lymph glands, which helps your body to heal. If you have a major health problem, the fluid isn't produced and wounds don't heal.How come this happens to a pimple?
I was always under the impression that the pimple was a clogged pore... so it gets big because the oil can't flow out, and then often gets a little tiny infection in there. So the material is mostly oil and water and some of your immune system juices.

Thats why you really shouldn't pop them, because if it doesn't come right to the surface, you might drive it deeper under the skin.

I only pop mine when they have the dot of white at the surface.
It's called ';weep'; its actually the skins natural moisturiser but can often just be the remainder of puss which comes out so the skin has less chance of being scarred and you're not meant to rub it off as it can actually cause the spot to spread so if you do scratch a spot let it ';weep'; and then gently remove the yellow head with hot water and your skin is much better off and looks nicer!

i've tried that before too. it doesn't actually help the pimple go away or anything, it just reduces the redness. it's not bad for it, but it won't cure it. if it's an emergency and you just want the redness to go away, go for it. otherwise use a pimple cream(try clean %26amp; clear or neutrogena) with benzoyl peroxide that will actually make the pimple go away. if you apply it several times a day it can usually make even the largest blemish disappear in about 3 days.
Try Tea tree oil hun, you can get a really cheap versions (collection 2000 from boots/superdrug, I've got one too) in stick form. It won't make it disappear completely but it's one of natures own remades and does make a difference.

You could have a little cyst on your eye if it's very close to it (as in, on your water line). It wont cause you any harm, but I suggest that you mix some salt with water, put it on the end of a cotton wool bud and hold that on the pimple. It will sting a little but if you do it for a few days, it will take it down. If it doesn't go, go to your doctor as it might be infected.

Well since the blood and pus are your bodies way of fighting off an infection (the pus is your white blood cells fighting the bacterial infection) it is best not to pop them. And yes this stuff does dissipate into your baby but so does any other infection that you may have the berms are hopefully attacked by the WBC and killed then flushed out of your body, like any other waste product.This way your body can continue to fight the infection and also by not popping it you don't get a scar. Take it from someone who has suffered with acne for the last 10 years don't pop or else you really will have these nasty red marks all over your face and you might as well change your nickname to crater-face because by popping those cystic pimples IT WILL LEAVE A SCAR. If the pimple is really painful and inflamed you can actually go to your derm and they may drain it with a needle (gross sounding but DON'T try to do it yourself at home) or they can give you prescription antibiotics that will lessen the healing time.

Think about it if you have a cut on your arm and you are constantly picking at the scab

A) its going to take forever to heal

B) you are probably going to get a infection and

C) a scar is likely to follow.

So why would you treat a pimple any differently,

Aloe Vera dosen't really help pimples, I can help clear up rashes etc. by providing a layer of moisture and promoting healing. It's Mainly used for healing sunburn. Try a spot treatment cream; they have one from Neutrogena...it's like $4.99 at drug stores, and it works for me.

I suggest using this prescription called Benziq. It's a face wash (or wherever you want to apply it). It has a 5.25% Benzoyl peroxide concentration. After using it for about 2 dyays, I saw noticeable results. I only use it about once or twice a day. Ask your doctor or dermotologist for more info. It's sort of expensive. With my insurance about 50+ dollars for a 175 gram tube. it's a really good product nevertheless.

I don't know what tomatoes would do, all I can imagine is that the acid will help you exfoliate. I don't think it will be very helpful. Here's a remedy for wound scars - it works on burn scars too, so I imagine it will work on pimple scars.

Buy a bottle of vitamin e capsules (they have to be capsules, not tabs or caplets) and poke a hole in one with a straight pin. Squeeze the goo inside out and rub it into your scars. Do this every day, or even twice a day. You should also gently exfoliate your skin to make it look smoother and more even. You can exfoliate using a loufa (a dried gourd, like a natural sponge) to wash your skin, or rub your face with a handful of damp oats.
